Pandemic Influenza Emergency Response Planning Resources
The World Health Organization and others are monitoring the spread of a particularly deadly avian flu known as H5N1. This flu has not yet had widespread human impact, but it has killed more than half of those humans infected. States, communities, schools, public health organizations and individuals have been urged to plan responses to a possible “pandemic flu.” This web-site provides a planning matrix and a plan template that outlines the steps and procedures that a school system should take in response to the possibility of pandemic flu. We appreciate the work of many others whose resources are compiled or adapted in these materials. Pandemic influenza is not currently present. Our goal is two-fold, to help school systems: (1) to plan for and implement ‘prevention’ and ‘preparation’ processes; and (2) to prepare for possible onset of pandemic influenza and the need for immediate responses.
